The DSI Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary with «Decade of Impact»

Ten years ago today, the Digital Society Initiative (DSI) was launched. To mark the anniversary, the DSI is starting «Decade of Impact», a ten-week campaign on the real impact of interdisciplinary research.

On September 14, 2016, the Digital Society Initiative (DSI) was officially launched in front of 300 guests – with an opening address by Johann Schneider-Ammann, then President of the Swiss Confederation. What a small group of professors started as a bottom-up initiative is today the University of Zurich's competence center on digital transformation: over 1,600 members from a wide range of disciplines, including more than 300 professors.

This is exactly what «Decade of Impact» stands for: starting today, the DSI will share a new story every week about the real impact of interdisciplinary research – ten impacts, ten weeks, leading up to the anniversary celebration on November 24. The stories will be published here in the news section, on the new anniversary page  and on the DSI LinkedIn channel.

The first impact goes online in a few days. You can already watch the launch video and explore two sections:

  • Video: To launch the series, a new animated video sums up what defines the DSI: from the idea of a few to an interdisciplinary force at the University of Zurich.
  • DSI Minds brings together short portraits of the DSI Professors: the people behind the DSI, researching the effects of digital transformation across a wide range of disciplines.
  • History & Impact walks through the past ten years – events and impacts, year by year, on a single page.
