DSI Minds – Celebrating the People Behind the Digital Society Initiative

To mark the 10th anniversary of the Digital Society Initiative (DSI), we are launching a new series of portraits of the people behind the DSI.

Ten years ago, the Digital Society Initiative (DSI) was founded at the University of Zurich with a clear mission: to understand, shape, and critically reflect on the digital transformation of society. Today, the DSI unites researchers from across disciplines – from computer science and law to sociology, medicine, and the arts – who share a common conviction: that the questions raised by digitalization are too important and too complex to be answered by any single field alone.

To mark this milestone, we are launching DSI Minds – a portrait series that introduces the people at the heart of the DSI. Over the coming months, we will be spotlighting all DSI Professors, Affiliated DSI Professors, and DIZH Bridge Professors: researchers whose work spans artificial intelligence, data science, digital health, legal tech, urban analytics, and much more.

What is DSI Minds?

DSI Minds is an invitation to take a look behind the scenes at DSI – and to meet the people who are asking pressing questions about digital transformation: Who is responsible when an algorithm fails? How do we protect democratic processes in an era of disinformation? What does it mean to work, learn, heal, or believe in an increasingly digital world?

Starting tomorrow, new portraits will appear regularly on the DSI LinkedIn channel. Follow us to meet the minds behind the DSI – and to discover the full breadth of research that makes this initiative what it is.
