Four new projects for the DSI Infrastructures & Labs series

Four project proposals were approved in this year's DSI Infrastructure & Lab Call. DAVALab, ELIAS, OpenOSR, and Urban Data Hub are new additions to the program. We congratulate the project teams and wish them every success.

DSI Infrastructures & Labs are shared infrastructures or structural vessels for the creation of collaborative research environments related to digital transformation. In addition to the existing DSI Infrastructures & Labs, four new ones have been approved for funding as part of this year's call:

  • DAVALab – Digital Audio-Visual Annotation Lab: The DAVALab develops an easy-to-use, web-based infrastructure for the automated analysis of text, speech, and video data.
  • ELIAS – an Agentic Interview Service:  ELIAS aims to make conducting and evaluating interviews easier and more objective. To achieve this, the project team is relying on a friendly, human-like chatbot that conducts the conversations with participants – supplemented by another intelligent tool that helps to systematically evaluate the results of the interviews.
  • OpenOSR – General-Purpose Open-Source Tools for Open-Set Recognition: The project investigates how AI deals with unknown or unexpected inputs. It promotes open-set recognition and anomaly detection through realistic benchmarks. To this end, an open-source toolbox with comparison options and algorithms is being developed.
  • UDH – Urban Data Hub: The UDH aims to provide data on population-level urban trends at fine geographic resolutions, enabling linkage across sectors and supporting the study of complex urban dynamics. The initial focus is on mobility, housing, and aging.

We congratulate the project teams and wish them every success.
