Can Artificial Intelligence Make Art?

New preprint by DSI member Markus Kneer and Elzė Sigutė Mikalonytė: "Can Artificial Intelligence Make Art? Folk Intuitions as to whether AI-driven Robots Can Be Viewed as Artists and Produce Art".

Markus Kneer and Elzė Sigutė Mikalonytė conducted two experiments exploring whether people were willing to consider paintings made by AI-driven robots as art, and robots as artists. The results show that people judge robot paintings and human painting as art to roughly the same extent. The authors also found that people were much less willing to consider robots as artists than humans.
