Parldigi MasterClass starts in the Canton of Geneva

The Parldigi MasterClass for members of the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva starts on January 26, 2024 with a first event on cybersecurity.

The Parldigi MasterClass will give politicians the opportunity to learn more about technical, social, legal and ethical aspects of the digital transformation. Experts from the University of Zurich and other universities offer scientifically based and politically neutral content on current issues relating to digitalization in short presentations and discussions. Members of the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva will have the opportunity to learn about cybersecurity, democracy, ethics and education in the context of digitalization in five events. The new Geneva fundamental right to protect the people’s digital integrity will also be discussed.

The aim of the Parldigi MasterClass is to support participants in developing a competent and independent opinion on upcoming political decisions. The project was piloted in 2021 and is now held in several cantonal parliaments as well as in the national parliament. In spring 2023, the Digital Society Initiative (DSI) of the University of Zurich and the «Verein Parldigi» launched a MasterClass for the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern with the support of Stiftung Mercator Schweiz. In the series of events for the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva, the University of Geneva is also involved as a co-organizer and the Canton of Geneva is providing support as an organizational partner.
