Melika's research bridges neuroscience, electrical engineering, and artificial intelligence – exploring how the organizing principles of natural intelligence can be implemented in silicon to build more efficient AI systems. At the heart of her work is a fundamental question: how do brain structures, from micro to macro scale, give rise to intelligence? Her answer involves novel memory technologies such as memristive devices, which adapt based on their history of inputs – a promising path toward truly emergent intelligent systems.
With a PhD from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and deep roots in the international neuromorphic computing community, Melika brings both scientific vision and collaborative energy to one of AI's most exciting frontiers.
