Lena's research bridges linguistics, computational cognitive science, and machine learning – investigating the cognitive mechanisms that underlie human language processing through experimental psycholinguistics, computational modeling, and deep learning. In her current work, she develops machine learning methods for the analysis of eye-tracking data, uncovering what our eye movements reveal about how the mind processes language.
With academic roots spanning Freiburg, Shanghai, Beijing, Paris, and Potsdam – and research stays across China and Taiwan – Lena brings a genuinely cross-linguistic and cross-cultural perspective to understanding one of humanity's most defining abilities: language.
