Prof. Dr. Manuel Günther
DSI Professor and Assistant Professor for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the Department of Informatics at the University of Zurich.
Manuel's research bridges deep learning, biometric recognition, and open-set classification – with a particular focus on one of AI's most fundamental challenges: how do we build systems that can reliably handle the unknown? From face recognition under real-world conditions to the detection of adversarial samples, his work pushes the boundaries of what machine learning can recognize, classify, and protect against.
Beyond his core research, Manuel is a strong advocate for Reproducible Research – ensuring that scientific progress is transparent, verifiable, and accessible to the broader research community.
