DSI Professor, Associate Professor and Chair of Legal Data Science and Public Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich, and Chair of the Executive Board of the Center for Legal Data Science (CLDS).
Tilmann's work bridges law, data science, and machine learning – exploring how data-driven methods can extract patterns, trends, and predictions from legal data such as judgments and legislative acts. His goal: to develop a stronger, evidence-based understanding of the law as it is actually practiced, and to reflect on what digitalization means for the future of legal knowledge.
With a background spanning law, philosophy, and applied statistics, Tilmann brings a uniquely interdisciplinary perspective to one of today's most pressing challenges: making law legible to machines – and more transparent for society.
