Digital Society Initiative

DSI Community Education

In 2023, the DSI Digital Education Community has started its work.

Goal

The goal of the community is to bring together different interest groups (teachers, students, IT, administration) and researchers interested in the topic of digital education and related research areas in the field of teaching and learning with digital media.

A network of participating researchers and practitioners is to be established in order to research the topic of digital education in an application-oriented manner and to always ensure a transfer back into practice.

In addition to building a strong community, the goal is to develop a map of interested parties, practitioners and researchers. This will enable the community to be a direct point of contact for questions from practice and at the same time to support other communities in questions of education.

Mission Statement: DSI Community Education is dedicated to research in the area of learning and teaching with digital media and in digital environments.

Content

DSI Community Education will cover education-related topics in the field of digitization. It will research, evaluate and map the future development of digital educational media, learning in digital environments, and the topics of media didactics and media education.

The challenge of digital education leads to questions about the future of learning and teaching and the role of teachers and learners. At the same time, didactic issues must be closely linked to the digital infrastructure. Questions of this kind are to be discussed in the community in order to accompany and sharpen the digital transformation of educational institutions such as the University of Zurich and to derive strategies. The discussions should result in concrete projects that the community can support and discuss, but which can also be driven forward by individuals.
