DSI Theme Week on "Artificial Intelligence"

That was the DSI Theme Week on "Artificial Intelligence"

The first DSI theme week took place from November 23 to 27, 2020. More than 400 listeners logged in, listened and discussed. For all who are interested - a large part of the events were recorded. The recordings can be found on the respective event website or can be requested via info@dsi.uzh.ch

Artificial intelligence - what does it mean for our lives?

Our lives are increasingly determined by digital technologies on many levels. A central role is played by artificial intelligence, or AI for short. Due to the large amount of data and the progress in the field of machine learning and computing power, AI can be used for problems that conventional computer programs have failed to solve: AI systems seem to be able to solve demanding tasks such as translation, gaming or image recognition with ease. But what can artificial intelligence really do and what should it actually be able to do?

From November 23 to 27, 2020, the Digital Society Initiative organized a theme week on "Artificial intelligence - what does it mean for our lives?"

During our theme week we focused on the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence. Various experts in the field of artificial intelligence showed us to what extent AI intervenes in our daily lives and what it can really achieve today.

We looked forward to an exciting week with public lectures and panel disscusions. The theme week also referred to the study "When algorithms decide for us: the challenges of artificial intelligence" by TA-SWISS, Foundation for Technology Assessment
